On a visit to Oahu, one scenic tour stands out: a drive through Round Top and Tantalus Drive. I start out on Makiki, crossing over Nehoa St and then head up the hill on Round Top drive. Follow the very windy, narrow road till you see your first look out on your right. The views are great! Continue going up until you see a gate and sign for Pu’u ‘Ualaka’s State Wayside Park on your left. Visiting the park is free. As always keep your car locked and valuables out of sight.
The views here are also fantastic. Continue driving up and you’ll see a few signs for Trail Heads – lots of hiking trails in this area. Continue on the scenic drive, stop by the last few look out areas on the way down. You won’t forget this drive.
