Castner Glacier was on the to-do list since it was the closest glacier from Fairbanks. It was about a 3 hour drive through some beautiful rural areas (which was worth the long drive).

A note on the drive down: get fuel before you start – fuel prices are higher in Delta. We did drive pretty cautiously as it did start to snow as we headed down.

The hike to the cave was a great workout. This year apparently yielded more snow than usual, so the trail was deep with snow. This didn’t stop quite a few people from making the hike.

Add this hike on the to-do list.
